The ground far below swung chaotically hither and thither as the gliding brute of Gha'enbesch wobbled in the air. Its flight could be described with almost any antonym of steady. It was as though the steed had sensed there was someone aboard who loathed rollercoaster rides and sudden steep heights, and presently wanted to do its best to ridicule this lamentable ninny-winny. It swerved back and forth like a pendulum gone berserk. Though, the other travelers hardly seemed to mind this irregular swing. They were so grown to it, that they automatically shifted their weight onto one side as a new tremor hit the course.

Surprise by the Pond

Tardily, twitchily, as though she had been trapped inside a slow-motion film, Hiid recoiled back onto the bank of the water. A monstrous head had appeared among the forest of spears. It was black and insectlike, but glared at her with three pairs of slitted and yellow snake eyes. Foot-long pincers around the mouth went clippity-clip. The maw itself was a hedgerow of fangs.
Her whole aghast concentration had gotten adhered to this repugnant apparition. Thus the brain was blind to the rest of the environment, and hardly signaled about the fact that something fell onto the ground beside her with a thud.

...looking surly.

The pose was bloody difficult, so obviously I've made a bunch of mistakes. I generally tend to mess up with a) legs, b) folks sitting, c) even more with the previous tossed together. But I won't learn anything without trying out new stuff.

I like this interpretation. He's drawn by Kidby as almost skeletal (though that is probably mostly the robe), but he IS a trained Assassin and definitely keeps in his weapons practice. Good work!

This is from the time period I actually had trouble drawing thin people (an overdose of muscled hulks would do that...). If I drew him now, I'd certainly give him a thinning diet, but truly, not as much as Kidby. It's seems to be his style overall to make the characters unrealistically skinny (Susan and Granny, for one).

It's good to hear you're satisfied with the ponytail and the beard yourself as well, since I like them too! The man kind of reminds me of my dear beloved Zurgy-Purgy... therefore I find this Vetinari guy quite attractive as well. He seems to be an interesting fellow, I wish I could learn more about him soon. That "ynseä" expression fits him scarily well... *drool*

Gah, I've seen your art on the livejournal community hpart, and I always liked your (canonically correct) Snape drawings, but as soon as I got around to looking through your gallery it was like "KAAAAAAAAAH!!!! DISCWORLD!!!!"

I'm fairly new still to the Discworld fandom (started reading the books sometime last year), but totally hooked till now. Pratchett just has such an ingenuity of his own. I'd probably draw even more of the characters, but darn it that I got fifteen zillion other interests as well, always fighting with one another for the teensy morsel of free time reserved for hobbies. XD
