ETA: Not happy with Pitchy's jaw. :/ Suggestions as to how to fix? Note that his face's supposed to be ill-shapen, but even so.
Inb4 "Ohnoes not that Thomas Covenant crap AGAIN!!!11", yup, it's another First/Pitchwife sketch. Nope, I never draw stuff like this with an entirely straight face.
However, crack pairings are even more amusing when they're canon.
Think of Pitchwife as something akin to a 8 or 9 feet tall cross between a Jötunn and the Hunchback of Notre Dame, with a misshapen visage, fingers that can effortlessly snap thick slabs of stone in two, and incessant breathing problems due to a deformed chest. A very unlikely character to fill an important supporting role in a fantasy novel, but there you go.
A smidgen of back story about how these two drifted together unfolds in The One Tree
. Pitchwife was serving his craft (kind of an odd mix of alchemy and engineering) in a ship called Wavedancer, when a serious storm threw it upon a reef, thus tearing a hole to the hull. He accidentally, possibly his crippledness playing a part in the mishap, killed The First's father while repairing the damage, and naturally started blaming himself greatly for the loss. Later, she helped him out of his depression and seemingly they fell in love with one another. It's also hinted he's quite a bit older (maybe 500-700 years by their reckoning) than the First, but just goes to show that a fair few things function differently in their culture. I might even color this horrible thing, hence no shading.
