Don't scorn me, this is pretty much my first piece of embroidery. XD I didn't even know what to do with the bugger first, but later decided to turn it into this shapeless, floppy bag. There's belt support behind.

The tunic is a WIP work complete with bits of string poking out of everywhere. I'll post more pics when it's ready. The collar has some experimental beading.

The embroidery mess isn't exactly coeval with my Viking garb, but nonetheless combines motifs from around the era. Part of the design-whatsits is based on a Finnish sword hilt from around 600AD which is believed to depict Kalevanpoika giants (Jotuns, Hrimthursar) swimming in icy waves. [link]
There's an interesting link to this real archeological find in Beowulf. He finds a sword made by Völundr which also had a hilt engraved with giants amid a flood. According to another legend, Völundr was the son of a Finnish king. :)

K, rambling again. Probably moving this to scraps later.

Your embroidery is brilliant! Do you go to any events where you wear this stuff?

That's really awesome embroidery! You shouldn't move it to scraps, it's really good!

Thanks. :) Well, I probably won't, as it's still in the main gallery after a good year.

Beautiful work, very impressive. This kind of job requires a lot of patience and skill, and I congratulate you for having it. The jewellery fits the costume perfectly, and the colors chosen are to my liking. The whole outfit looks very very good on you.

I looooooooove it. What inspired you to make this? Some sort of historical re-enactment? I like the owl-hammer-type-thingy under the drowning men :D
